Bio-Chemist
Adjunct Professor of Chemistry

BACKGROUND

Dr. Zohre Kurt is a adjunct faculty at Florida State University, Panama campus where she teaches chemistry classes while she is an adjunct researcher at Institute of Scientific Research and High Technology Services (INDICASAT) and she is also an instructor and an adviser in the masters program in mechanical engineering at Technological University of Panama.

Dr. Kurt earned her Bachelor of Science Degrees in Environmental Engineering and Chemical Engineering from Middle East Technical University (Turkey) in May 2006 and 2007 respectively. In the fall of 2007, she started graduate school with a Fulbright Scholarship in the Environmental Engineering program at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

She got her Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Jim C. Spain in October 2012 and meanwhile got Master of Science degrees in Environmental Engineering and Chemical Engineering in December 2008 and 2011, respectively. She stayed as a postdoctoral fellow at Georgia Institute of Technology until November 2015 where she participated in projects as researcher and Co-PI.

Her expertise includes evaluation of environmental processes, assessing bioremediation techniques for highly contaminated soils and groundwater and determination the biodegradation pathways of synthetic and natural occurring compounds. Her current research additionally includes assessing contamination and engineering solutions for the treatment of the contamination.
