The center is designed to operate programs and projects under FSU’s academic and administrative umbrella. Despite this, its funding will be sought from a diverse group of external sources, including grants, endowments, self-generated projects, and consulting services, amongst others.

The mission of the UCR is to bridge efforts of different societal groups (government, civil organizations, local communities, the private sector and academia) through various key stakeholders. These stakeholders will be brought together by the URC to identify their “natural” synergies for translation of research into policy making in the context of urban DRM.

Additionally, the URC aims to foster a generation of institutional and organizational knowledge paired with action to promote the changes necessary for more sustainable and resilient communities. Networking, coordination, and joint participation will also be facilitated through cooperative-based activities.
